**Help My Mom Rebuild After Devastating House Explosion**
---
**Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,**
I come to you today with a heavy heart to share an unimaginable tragedy that has befallen my family, particularly my mother, Shirley Corona. On **October 4, 2024**, in Red Lake, a catastrophic house explosion left her home in ruins and her life hanging by a thread.
**The Incident:**
The explosion occurred suddenly, leaving Shirley trapped inside. By the grace of God, she survived, but not without suffering severe injuries. At the time, her son and caretaker, Elliot Mendoza, was away in Minneapolis, MN for training with Applebee's Restaurant of Bemidji, MN. Their home was completely leveled.
**Shirley's Condition:**
- **October 4, 2024:** Shirley was airlifted to the Regions Hospital Burn Center in St. Paul, MN, with 55% of her body burned and multiple fractures. Her injuries include her left pelvic, 8 ribs, shoulder blades, thoracic back area, and right heel. She was initially on a ventilator and a feeding tube, kept sedated for her condition.
- **October 7, 2024:** Despite the severity of her injuries, Shirley has been described as a very strong lady by medical staff, though she remained in critical condition.
**Recent Updates:**
- **October 23, 2024:** Shirley underwent procedures to debride both legs and arms, with skin grafts applied to both arms.
- **October 29, 2024:** She had her left leg amputated from the knee down, and wound VACs were placed on both thighs.
- **October 31, 2024:** A significant milestone - Shirley was taken off the ventilator and is now breathing on her own!
- **November 1, 2024:** A revision surgery on her amputated leg was performed along with a change of the wound VAC on her thighs.
- **November 6, 2024:** The dressing on the wound VAC was changed, and some small area debridement was done.
- **November 13, 2024:** Skin grafting on her thighs and buttocks was performed, along with further debridement.
**The Need:**
- **Medical Bills:** The medical expenses have been overwhelming. From emergency treatments to ongoing therapies, the costs are mounting, and insurance covers only a fraction of what's needed.
- **Housing:** With her house destroyed, Shirley has no place to call home. We are seeking funds to help secure temporary accommodation while we figure out how to rebuild her life from scratch.
**Our Goal:**
Our target is to raise $10,000. This will cover:
- Immediate medical expenses and ongoing treatments.
- Costs associated with finding a new place to live, including deposits and initial setup.
- Basic necessities to replace what was lost in the explosion.
**Why Help?**
Shirley has always been the pillar of our family, a woman of immense strength and kindness who has touched many lives with her generosity and warmth. Now, she needs our help to regain her footing after this devastating event. Your donation, no matter the size, will be a beacon of hope in her darkest hours.

Elliot Mendoza
