Support Shockley Family's Fire Recovery
Donation protected
We often get asked why we risk putting out “shed fires” as firefighters, but our local firefighting family was just reminded personally. One of our own, the Shockley family, lost the entire contents and barn building in a fire this past week. His wife Kayla just completed nursing school this past year and the children still have a week of school prior to summer. The loss included a minimum of 20k worth of woodworking and tool equipment such as cordless drills, drill presses, table saws, band saws, sanders, planers, and a spray gun. They had pressure-treated wood stacked drying in the shop waiting to be cut out. Hardware such as nuts, bolts, chains, and screws were also lost.
The fire had the immediate effect of having no water and a propane leak at their home which was close to the barn. Hardest hit was the loss of 30-year-old furniture patterns her grandfather made in the 80s when he started the designs.
Please consider helping this family get back on their feet. Scott makes beautiful benches, swings, and other woodwork as his second business and Kayla has helped many of our fire families with her excellent cooking in times of crisis. #brotherhood and community
