Hello all, my name is Shondale Atkinson, #TheWellnessLady. I'm raising $10,000 for a thought-provoking documentary titled Beyond The System: A Journey Through Foster Care, that delves into the complex world of foster care, shedding light on the experiences of children families and dedicated professionals involved in the foster care system.
Through intimate interviews, personal stories and an immersive exploration of the foster care process, my documentary aims to raise awareness, challenge stereotypes and inspire meaningful change.
Why this ? Why Shondale ? Because I have personal experience with the foster care system. The crack epidemic of the 80s that touched many lives, touched mine too, making my home unfit for my siblings and I. Resulting in us being part of "The System". I've witnessed firsthand the perils and the pride alike and believe strongly that something must be done about it.
I have opened Kardi Kidz Camp and The Mustard Seed Foundation to help children in various ways in the city of Dayton, Ohio. Specifically targeting underserved children who have fallen through the cracks after being placed in the system. I have also opened Shon D's Wellness House which offers holistic services for the mind, body and soul, so that these children can transition into well-rounded adults.
This passion project is part of my God-given Purpose. It is the next step. It is shedding awareness and providing resources to touch the souls of those who are ready to make meaningful change. If each one can reach one, we WILL make the foster care system function more smoothly and truly look out for the health of our future, the children.

What will the funds be used for ?
- Paying for production and editing
- Paying our creative director to make sure the end project is cohesive and effective
- Paying our marketing and branding team to ensure as many people see our end product as possible
- Renting spaces to shoot each scene
- Performing onsite interviews
