Support Short Term Rental Property Rights
Hi, my name is Steven Dixon and I am a citizen of Auburn, Alabama. On March 16, 2021, the Auburn City Council voted to ban short-term rentals in my zone of neighborhood conservation. My rights and the rights of Auburn citizens have been taken from us by a vote of 5 to 3. That's all it took. Before I get too far into this story, I should let you know that I serve on the Auburn City Council, however after an opinion by the Alabama Ethics Commission, I recused myself from all discussion and voting on this ordinance.
Shortly after the vote banning my property rights and the rights of all citizens, a group formed to challenge this ordinance. We are small but mighty and determined to gain our property rights back. We have hired legal counsel to represent us, and we do not plan on backing down. However, the legal counsel is very expensive and that is why we have come to GoFundMe. We believe there is strength in numbers and need your help. Every dollar raised will go to help fight this injustice.
Perhaps you rent your home out or prefer to stay in Airbnb's or other vacation rentals when you travel. Maybe you have been impacted by the City of Auburn's Short-term rental ordinance. Or maybe you're tired of seeing the government whittle away at your constitutional rights.
Donating to this campaign, you will help us fight against the discrimination and unlawful taking of property rights. Thank you for your consideration.
