Support Siena’s Vision For A Salon Space

Donation protected

Hello Everyone!

My name is Siena and I am a proud resident of the North Haven community. I want to bring in a new Business into our town. I want to provide future beauty professionals with a magical space to be creative, work independently and grow both personally and professionally.

The funds will go directly to preparing the location in reguards to renovations and updating the space I have selected. The funds will go towards the startup costs of this wonderful idea that our town and community needs. This will be an incredible opportunity for future cosmetologists in our town to grow because we have a wonderful cosmetology school on Washington avenue.

Let me start of by introducing to you the traditional salon hierarchy and comparing it with my own business model so you can better understand my vision.

Here is the timeline of traditions and customs in the industry present day:

you go to cosmetology school and invest a huge amount of money into your future career. In the state of Connecticut you spend 1,500 hours of both hands on & traditional book work training you to become a future service provider.

You learn all about hair, skin, nails, body mechanics, bone structures, muscle stystems, diseases and even dabble into some electrical work!

After the dedication & completion of 1,500 hours within the cosmetology school - you then take a test which is a state board certification. You pass, you receive your license in the mail and you’re exicted to start your journey as a licensed professional.

Now you find yourself an assistant at a salon. What you may think as an outsider looking in, that assistant will be doing hands on work in the field they are now legally licensed to be in.

NOPE! Myself, and many others thought the same. Its a whole lot of Take the garbage out. Clean the bathrooms…even the toilets at times…Dust. Sweep. Refill shampoo bottles. Do endless amounts of laundry. Wash color bowls. Mop the floors. Dust. Sweep. Then dust and sweep some more.

The typical timeline for this type of responsibility as a NEW and LICENSED cosmetologist is a year and sometimes even longer.

My point being is: the time we have right after graduation is a crucial learning time! YES - Salon duties need to be done. Common areas need to be cleaned. We need to offer eachother a helping hand when needed. The “hierarchy” per say, of these duties should be equally spread as a TEAM! No matter who you are & what stage of your career you are at. Hands on expirence with more independence needs to be attainable and sustainable for new comers. :)

I have expirenced this first hand. I felt defeated. Deflated. Unwelcome. Unmotivated and honestly broken hearted at what the industry has to offer new cosmetologists. It also comes with the burden of not being able to be your true authentic self. It’s whole lot of you’re too nice, you’re not nice enough, you’re too quite, you’re not loud enough, you’re not smiling enough, your tone of voice is not friendly enough. I have found it to be very difficult for newbies to find their hair home.

Well - if you haven’t heard it recently you ARE enough. You are more than enough.

No matter who you are, what your personality is, what stage your career is in… you are CAPABLE of success.

This ends now. This ends in my future salon. That I will create in our town with YOUR help.

I vow to provide a work environment that is attainable for new stylists in the industry. We have a beautiful cosmetology school right within our town filled with future professionals that want a successful career. This will be a rental salon where independent stylists have the freedom to come as they are. The freedom to learn and grow at their own pace. The freedom to create their own expectations and thrive. A chance for immediate and genuine expirence within the industry. The cost to rent within will also be generously lower compared to other opportunities within our demographic. Whether you are a resident supporting new small business owners, a future or existing cosmetologist, or a stranger - I thank you from the bottom of my heart for even reading this far. Every donation is appreciated and will be put towards the cause of giving people an opportunity unlike no other.

I will share with you my mission statement: Inner Circle - A place where we can thrive and grow together. a place that is kind and thoughtful. A place that is safe to explore and learn - where we can be who we are, share our knowledge, and have a healthy work environment together.

I hope by now you understand my vision. Most importantly I am creating this for others to never have to expirence some of the harsh realities of the industry. The future should look nothing but bright.

With Love, Siena :)
