Hi everyone! We wanted to start off by saying thank you – if you are here that means that you are supporting someone who is very near and dear to our hearts, and the hearts of many. Whether you are able to financially contribute or are only able to share this page in an effort to reach more people, thank you so much for your well wishes.
On November 8th, Simone was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This diagnosis came after weeks of discomfort, testing, and uncertainty, all while Simone continued, and still continues to work at her full-time corporate job and her own start-up company. For those of you who know Simone, this determination and drive is not at all surprising. In college, she was a part of a variety of organizations ranging from leadership positions in the Panhellenic Greek community, to working multiple jobs for the University. And even as a graduate, she is still committed to these communities in mentorship and advisor roles, all while working and living away from home, being a devoted daughter and sister, an incredible friend to many, and a genuinely kind person to all. In fact, despite all of her academic and professional accomplishments, Simone’s greatest impact is the effect she has on others. She’s best characterized as a magnetic person, someone who you want to be around all of the time because she makes you want to be better just by being in her orbit.
Which is why we are asking you to help her beat this disease – so that she can continue to inspire and motivate everyone around her.
We are asking for donations to help Simone manage expenses, primarily for:
- Chemotherapy and testing – On November 18th, Simone began the process of going through 6 cycles of chemo treatment, which will last approximately 6 months. Some of the cost for the treatment and testing will have to be paid out of pocket.
- Travel – Simone’s mother drives up from Philadelphia every other week to drive her to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s outpatient facility in the Upper East Side of Manhattan for chemo appointments. That’s a 200-mile, multi-state roundtrip! For other doctor’s appointments, Simone takes public transportation and rideshares.
- Food & Necessities – Many of us can’t be bothered to cook or go to the store for ourselves on a good day, let alone when feeling unwell! Given Simone’s compromised immune system and understandable lack of energy, we’d like to save her the trip to the grocery store and allow her the opportunity to order meals and household items whenever she’d like.
Thank you again for any and all contributions. Simone, her family, and her friends are all incredibly grateful for your support!
Note: Any donations that are not used will be donated to other crowdfunding campaigns and/or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
