Support SJ's Journey to Recovery

Hello we've reached day 8 on SJ's journey. He is continuing to make progress, albeit slowly. He recently passed his swallow study (Thank God) so that now he can began eating regular food and drinking normally.

 Thursday, June 20 2024 My brother, SJ and our family’s lives completely changed in a matter of moments.

SJ went to his friends community pool to swim. While running away from a wasp he and his friend jump in the pool, but SJ dives or flips headfirst——into the shallow end. He said all he remembers after the jump, is floating face down in the pool thinking that his arm was floating next to him (because he couldn’t feel it). He said he thought he was going to drown because he couldn’t move, so he was just swallowing water. His friends said they thought he was just floating and playing at first. If it weren’t for one of his friends realizing that he wasn’t “just floating”…my mom would would’ve been planning a funeral.

SJ was rushed to the hospital and we received absolutely devastating news. His spinal cord had been severed so badly that he will not have use of his legs and arms.

SJ has been admitted to PICU. The fractured bones were repaired. However, the spinal cord is the main stem of the body, and we’re being told it's not repairable.

My mom, myself, my siblings and my family are strong believers in faith. We refuse to believe that this is SJ’s story. He’s ONLY 13! He has WAY too much more life to actually LIVE & FULLY ENJOY. We are trusting and believing that God will perform a miracle and heal my brother!
