Support SKDA: Keep Our School Open
Donation protected
St. Katharine Drexel Academy (SKDA) is more than a school—it’s a place of faith, belonging, and acceptance. Since its founding, SKDA has welcomed students from diverse backgrounds, creating an environment that celebrates individuality and cultivates community. We’re now facing an urgent challenge, and our faith drives us to act boldly together.
My name is Steve Carter, PTG President at SKDA, a 2002 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and a retired Naval Officer with 22 years of service to our country. Today, I find myself in a different kind of fight—a mission to keep our school open and thriving. It’s a cause close to my heart, as SKDA embodies the spirit of acceptance, unity, and hope that our children need.
Our immediate need is to raise $300,000 by January 31, 2025 to cover critical expenses for the current year, including staff salaries and utilities, to ensure SKDA’s future. However, it’s crucial to recognize the reality of our situation: despite our best efforts, the decision to keep the school open ultimately lies with Cardinal McElroy, who could decide against our efforts at any point.
Every contribution counts—whether you’re able to support financially or simply help us share our story, it makes a real difference. We will track all donations here, showing the strength of our SKDA family as we come together.
If, despite our best efforts, we don’t reach our goal, or we reach our goal and SKDA is set to close in June 2025, please know that your donations will still be used to benefit the students for the 2024-2025 school year.
Thank you for joining us in this effort to keep SKDA open and strong. Together, we can make this goal a reality.
Sincerely,
Steve
