Support Skyler and Hannah's Recovery Journey
Donation protected
In the very dark, early morning hours of October 11th, my nephew Skyler Woodin was driving to work. He's a good and skilled contractor and a hardworking family man, who has his routine, but this morning ended differently.
Skyler had a major car accident. On Fish Hollow, his truck went off the road, wrecked into a tree, and landed in a swampy area. The impact was so intense, his steering wheel busted, his femur broke in half, nearly breaking through the skin, bruises all on his face and eyes, the muscle was exposed on his eyelid, as well as various other head and body injuries, and he was trapped, with no cell service, in the crash for 2 and a half hours, watching the sun rise, until someone found him.
He received surgery, where they had to cut through the muscle, using plates and rods to permanently keep his bone together. The risk of infection is high, and the pain is no joke. Skyler has a good attitude and is lucky to be alive.
The road to recovery is going to be long for Skyler, and the doctor said he'll never go back to the normal he once knew.
But that's not where the bad luck ends. Shortly after Skyler was discharged from the hospital, just as he was returning home, his partner Hannah Wood, who had been experiencing excruciating abdominal pain all day, was taken to the hospital and needed emergency surgery. She had experienced a twisted fallopian tube caused by a cyst on her ovary. The one ovary, the cyst, and fallopian tube were all removed.
Times are hard. Skyler and Hannah have a beautiful 6-month-old daughter named Ayawin. They had recently bought a house, Skyler had purchased a new truck, and things had been going well. This tragedy will largely impact them financially. The truck was totaled in the accident, and Skyler will be out of work for an extended period of time. Caring for Ayawin, the pups, and their home will be challenging enough with their injuries and recovery. We hope to ease some of their financial stresses.
So many people have been reaching out to their family, asking where donations can be sent. And we are in absolute awe of the outpouring of love and kindness for Skyler, Hannah, and their beautiful baby girl.
