Support Slow Open: Empower Emerging Artists
Donation protected
The title of this show Slow Open, suggests that the process of opening up takes time. It might take days, or even a lifetime to truly reveal oneself. The mission of this exhibition is to showcase Artists who work in the genre of Self Portrait, and provide a space for them to vulnerably share their work.
This show aims to highlight emerging women, non-binary, and trans artists working in the subject of self-portraiture. In this exhibition, artists have autonomy in how they present themselves to the world and why. We hope to create an intimate space where artists (and our audience) can come as they are and know they will be embraced. Along with our exhibition, it is important to us to give back to our fellow emerging artists by providing workshops and networking opportunities that will help further their creative careers.
This exhibition features artist Colleen Cameron. Colleen “Coco” Cameron is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana. Coco uses a variety of different mediums to express that for which she has no words. Exploring themes of vulnerability, power, control, and liberation. Colleen is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia. She studied Printmaking and Book Arts. Currently her primary creative practices are drawing and performance.
Supporting artists include: Ash Gaude, Ann Haley, Ben Collongues, Bria Armstrong, Cecily Taylor, Deja Jones, E. Marshall, Janet Dake, Kelsey Scult, Kennedi Andrus, Magdalena Saliba, Melissa Cripe, Sarah Singh, and Taylor Hunter.
