Support Smallholding Farm through Hurricane Helene

Hello, Daniel and Ellie of Smallholding Farm here.

Smallholding Farm is a small, organic, diversified vegetable market garden with an animal operation nestled in the Foothills of North Carolina. We are family owned and operated, selling produce through local tailgate markets, CSA shares, and wholesale opportunities.

Hurricane Helene came through our town of Morganton as well as Asheville, and surrounding areas of WNC on Friday / Saturday September 27th and 28th. Through this, we have experienced a broken greenhouse, trees fallen, fence lines down, and an unknown future of what income will look like.

For us and surrounding areas - land, resources, homes, animals, and our communities have been deeply impacted - to us, the future is unknown.

We are asking for financial support to keep our business afloat through what normally is a busy time to prepare for winter slowness. The asking amount of $7,000 covers the base line for the next 10-12 weeks for our farm as well as repairs needed on the farm- labor, animal care, plant care, home/land/utilities/groceries, broken greenhouse/ fallen trees/ animal fence repairs on farm, and continued savings for our baby that is due in less than 6-weeks.

We are fortunate that we have produce in the field. We have a roof over our heads, and we feel safe. We are making efforts to provide our community with the produce we have remaining. Your donations will help us recover the profits and allow us to continue to provide assistance in our area. Our main outlets of markets, wholesale, CSA's are either blocked through road closures, emergency evacuations, closed restaurants, and other non-essential spots. Our neighbors, friends, family, churches, donation areas, and surrounding community need this produce - and we want to prioritize that where needed.

Please consider supporting and sending this around to local friends and communities. Because we are safe, and have our basic needs being met, we are keeping this off our main social media platforms to give priority to farms and businesses in our area more deeply impacted by this disaster.
