SMHS UPLIFTMENT PROJECT 2025

Dear Past Students, Friends, and Well-wishers, on January 12, 2025, we celebrated the 65th anniversary of St. Mary High School (SMHS). This institution has consistently positively impacted every student, parent, and staff member who has passed through its halls.

This year we seek to complete four (4) major projects and we need the continued support of our kind and dedicated past students, parents and friends.

Currently, the school administration is engaged in a significant project to expand food services for our students, recognizing the vital importance of nutrition to education. They have recently received a 40-foot container and are working on the necessary infrastructure.

Our goal is to support the school in becoming the top choice not only for students but for staff members as well. We have identified four key projects that we aim to complete in this 65th year.

1. Renovation of the Student Bathrooms
Our institution has always prioritized creating a hygienic environment for our students. However, over the years, many of the toilets, face basins, and showers have become damaged due to wear and tear. These facilities are essential not only for our students but also for our athletes and cadets, who rely on them especially after training sessions and during camps.

2. Library Modernization and Driver Simulator Room
The school has received a driving simulator, which is currently located in the library. A designated area needs to be partitioned to house the driving simulator. Additionally, the library space will be further adjusted to ensure students have spots to read, study, and access eBooks using tablets. This will help modernize the library services.

3. Staff Lounge Renovation
Educators face many challenges in today's world, and the stressors of the job and teaching environment can be burdensome. Our teachers need an appropriate area to destress in the middle of the day. Having a comfortable space to relax and unwind will greatly benefit the mental health of our teachers. The intention is to furnish the lounge with comfortable chairs, tables, a television, and other amenities. The teachers at St. Mary High School continue to excel in developing our students, and we want to show our appreciation by contributing to their well-being.

4. Principal Cottage Renovation
The Principal Cottage is one of several areas that have provided housing for our teachers over the years. This building also holds historical significance for the school. However, the doors and windows have withstood the test of time and are no longer appropriate for use due to the effects of the elements and nature. These infrastructure need to be replaced to ensure the dwelling is one that is safe and healthy.

The Mission
We are engaging past students to assist with providing estimates, and, as usual, we will update you along the way. We want to make these projects a reality during the school's 65th year of operation.

We call on all our past students to contribute to this effort throughout the year and help make a positive impact on the lives and well-being of both current and future students and staff at St. Mary High School.
