Support Sonia Leyva's Brain Injury Recovery

On August 17th, Saturday, Sonia Leyva (a mother of 3) had a terrible accident resulting in a severe brain injury. She is currently in the ICU at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. She is currently sedated and nurses did wake her up every hour. She did open her eyes and moved her arms and legs, but on her last hour, they tried waking her up from sedation, she no longer was opening her eyes. They took her to a CT scan and it showed the brain bleed got a lot worse.

Today, on August 18th, the Neurosurgeon tried to insert an intracranial pressure (ICP) bolt but were unsuccessful since the pressure of her brain was a lot higher than what they expected. Sonia does not have health insurance and this will benefit her afterwards to help with recovery and her children.

El sábado 17 de agosto, Sonia Leyva (es madre de 3) tuvo un terrible accidente y tiene una lesión cerebral grave. Actualmente se encuentra en la ICU del Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center en Winston Salem. Actualmente está sedada y las enfermeras la despertaron cada hora, abrió los ojos y movió los brazos y las piernas, pero en la última hora intentaron despertarla de la sedación, ya no abría los ojos y la llevaron a una tomografía computarizada y mostró que la hemorragia cerebral empeoró mucho.

Hoy, 18 de agosto, el neurocirujano intentó insertar un perno de presión intracraneal (PIC) pero no tuvo éxito ya que la presión de su cerebro era demasiado más alta de lo que pensaban. Sonia no tiene seguro médico y esto la beneficiará después para ayudar con la recuperación y con sus hijos.
