Dear neighbors and friends,
As you likely know, a catastrophic water main break next to Sparrow Cafe on February 13th caused significant flooding of Sparrow (and Paperback Exchange, Terzo, Theisen Renovation, plus Lake Harriet Florist, Scuba Center, and Lake Harriet Pizza next door), resulting in extensive damage. All the tenants are waiting to learn if the building can be restored or irreparable. So, unfortunately, we don't know when or if Sparrow will reopen.
Sparrow has been a welcoming and wonderful place for us, for almost 12 years. The 12 years have been challenging due to COVID, and extensive roadwork and construction in the area spanning years. Yet Sparrow has remained an incredible part of our neighborhood. The bird-friendly coffee and Sheila's delicious pastries make Sparrow a special place. But what makes it most special is Jasper and Sheila, and Syndi, Joe, Amira, and Kate. Each of our dear friends has an uncertain financial future, so we ask for help to ease that financial and emotional burden.
Read this great story about Sparrow's beginnings.
Please donate if you can, and share this GoFundMe, so that we can help Sparrow and its employees during this incredibly challenging time.
