Support Special Needs Campers After Fire Loss
Donation protected
My son works at Camp Chaverim Yachad in Swan Lake, NY this summer. This past Friday, July 19, 2024, a fire started 90 minutes before the Jewish Sabbath and the camp synagogue burned down. All campers and staff were accounted for and no one was hurt. When a Jewish boy becomes Bar Mitzvah, parents give the boy a pair of Tefillin for morning prayers. The staff and campers had their own pairs of Tefillin in the camp synagogue and over 200 pairs of Tefillin were lost.
I am starting this GoFundMe to help the camp replace some of the Tefillin for the special needs campers. Tefillin is not cheap. The average cost is somewhere around $800. I would also be using some of these funds raised to help replace Chaim's Tefillin. This event was not on my July Bingo card and this unforeseen expense has me drinking more coffee than I usually do.
After I replace Chaim's Tefillin, all additional funds will go to Camp Chaverim Yachad. Thank you for considering this opportunity to help these special needs campers (and my Chaim).
