Support Spencer's Road to Recovery

On May 30th 2024 Spencer Tejedas, a Gresham Firefighter, responded to a house fire with reports of children trapped inside. Upon arrival, people were telling firefighters that there were kids in the house. Spencer and his crew went into action, as they have done many times before. After entering the smoke filled house for their search, they became over run by heat and fire. His crew was making their way out of the house when it flashed over, igniting the smoke around them.
Spencer, along with two of his brothers in the department, made it out of the house and into the roadway, helmet shields melted, turnouts smoking and singed. Spencer took the brunt of the damage. He suffered burns on over 45% of his body including his legs, back, neck, and most of all, his hands and arms. He was not able to remove his own gear and needed assistance from his brothers and sisters on scene. He was quickly transported to the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emmanuel where he will undergo treatment for his injuries.
This is the beginning of a long arduous journey that no one should have to endure. As firefighters, we all know the price we may pay for taking that oath. Spencer is paying right now. Along with being a well respected member of the Gresham Fire family, he is also a loving husband and father to his wife and two young sons. He has an extremely long road ahead, with months of hospitalization, surgeries and then the daunting task of rehabilitation. This is a firefighter who was going to come off shift and enjoy a three day weekend with his wife and boys. Life can change in the blink of an eye.
Please consider helping out Spencer and his family as they navigate this new path. These funds will be used to ease the burden on the family and enable his wife to move back and forth between home and the burn center without having to worry about costs. Keep her fed and to provide funds for any type of procedures/therapies that may not be covered by insurance. This is a weight that we can lift off her shoulders, as no spouse should ever have to go through this. He ran into a situation where most people would be running from, he didn't think twice about risking his life for someone else. That's a hero. Above all, keep him lifted in prayers.
