Help SLGH Crew Build Their First Boathouse
SLGH Crew is a nonprofit rowing program open to all area middle school and high school students, primarily from the Spring Lake and Grand Haven communities. For years, our athletes have trained hard, shown up with dedication, and represented our community with pride. Now, they need a safe and permanent home to keep growing.
We’re building our first-ever SLGH Crew Boathouse, and we’re reaching out to our community to help us cross the finish line.
Why a Boathouse Matters So Much
Right now, our team trains and operates without a proper facility. Every season brings new challenges that make it harder for our athletes to perform at their best:
1. Safe, Secure Storage
- Our racing shells (some over 60 feet long) are currently stored outdoors and are vulnerable to damage from weather, wind, and falling branches.
- Winter storage is a yearly scramble, relying on borrowed space and inconvenient logistics.
- A boathouse will protect the equipment our athletes and families have worked so hard to raise funds for.
2. Indoor Training Space
- Rainy days and harsh weather often halt or limit training because we have no covered space for workouts.
- Indoor space means safer, more consistent training and better performance on the water.
3. A True Team Home
- A boathouse gives our rowers a central, consistent place to gather, train, learn, and build the camaraderie that makes this sport so special.
- It allows SLGH Crew to grow—expanding opportunities for more middle school and high school athletes in our community.
What We Need
Thanks to incredible generosity from families, alums, and supporters, we’ve already raised $82,300 toward this project. The total cost is $113,800, leaving us $31,500 away from making the SLGH Crew Boathouse a reality.
