Small History of Temple:
The Sri Lakshmi Tirupatamma Temple, also known as the Sri Durga Malleswara Hari Hara Kshetram, is a significant place of worship located in the Tumrukota Mandal region of the Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh, India. Built in the early 1980s with a small structure and later expanded in the early 1990s by the late Sri Tirupathamma, the temple is dedicated to the deities Shiva and Parvathi, Venkateswara Swami, Sridevi, and Bhudevi Ammavaru. Every year, hundreds of devotees visit the temple seeking blessings from Sri Paluvai Tirupatamma Talli. In the past 20 years, the temple has provided anna danam, or food offerings, on major festival days and on March 3rd, the temple's prathista day.
The significance of Paluvai Tirupatamma Talli is, she was born into an affluent family in a village. However, when her son passed away during his teenage years in 1965, she struggled with mental turmoil and hardships. In an effort to cope, she began making weekly pilgrimages on foot to the Daida Aho Bhilam, a Shiva Linga located partly in the forest and next to the Krishna river. This journey was over 20 kilometers from her village and, at the time, there was no proper transportation to reach the Bhilam. Despite the difficulties, she persevered in her devotion and eventually gained some sort of Siddha powers at the Bhilam. She became known for her ability to see into people's past and predict their future by examining a coconut. This coconut would be broken by a family member seeking her help after her prayers at home. Initially, her family had difficulty understanding her abilities, but as time passed and more and more devotees sought her guidance, they began supporting her by providing food for all who visited her every day. Paluvai Tirupatamma Talli went on to help hundreds of people in the region with her spiritual powers. In the early 1980s, with the support of her family and devotees, she left her home and built a small house and temple outside of the village to continue her work helping people. The temple has since become a significant place of worship in the area. Paluvai Tirupatamma Talli passed away in the early 2000s, and a small memorial was built next to the temple in her honor.
