Support S’s Autism Screening to access NDIS!

Hi! My name is Marlo and I’m raising funds to cover the cost of an autism diagnosis for my friend S.

S is a dear friend, and a truly sweet and kind person who is struggling with the long-term impacts of PTSD, as well as recent traumas such as the death of a partner and an up-coming major surgery. On top of this, the majority of the vital support they need as a disabled person with mental health struggles are totally financially inaccessible to them. Because of this, S’s health professionals had recommended to them that they pursue formal diagnosis through an autism assessment, with the aim of accessing NDIS funding.

S’s assessment has been successful and resulted in a diagnosis of Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder, meaning they are now able to apply for NDIS support which if successful will give them access to ongoing psychology, support work and assistance with daily living, sensory aids, speech therapy and other support that they really need.

We’re really pleased that S now has the chance to access all of these support services, however we are still trying to raise the funds to cover the total $1,850 cost of the assessment. $800 has been covered by donations from friends, but S needs help to pay back the personal loans they had to take out in order to initially pay for the diagnosis appointment.

As a person on centrelink payments who is already behind in bills as cost of living skyrockets, their capacity to pay off these loans any time soon is very limited, and as their friends we would love to see them able to focus on recovering from their up-coming surgery and recent trauma without the added stress of unpaid loans.
