Support Stacy and Rubie After Tragic Goat Loss

Donation protected
I am raising funds to help Stacy and her daughter Ruby recover from their loss of 7 of their beautiful goats, at the hands of a malicious and cruel person who poisoned them. The goat herd works at sustainable environmental cleanup.

They were able to save one - Bambi. The herd is not out of the woods yet. Yes, this was a hard economic hit. She is scraping funds to buy new goats to add to the herd this week. She is also going to buy a truck camper and sleep with the goats when they are in a public place. Imagine losing 7 of your precious pets in one morning.

Here is their story.

Yesterday morning, we drove up on a horrible sight. Seven of my precious goats were dead. One Adult Willow & six other 5 & 6 months old. These goats were all like little pets. The first to meet you at the fence line and beg for treats. It is the goat that is the biggest loss. They all had special personalities. They all knew their names. These are live beings, and I just can't understand how people can be this vile.

Someone poisoned my sweet little babies. Bambi was poisoned as well, but he was still standing. He was shaking and showing signs of extreme poisoning. We rushed him home and administered Activated Charcoal along with water. We did all we could do from a medical standpoint. I'm so happy we were able to save this little Bambi boy. My daughter and my heart were broken knowing the pain our babies suffered. We went back fast with the trailer, picked up our dead goats, and loaded up the rest. Yes, I removed them from the project altogether.

The Portage County Sheriff's & Humane officer was called. The Humane officer is investigating. I do not believe they will find the sickos who did this.

I am sorry to have to tell you that their death was not anything natural or due to environmental factors. There is absolute proof this was a Chemical Poisoning. I have been asked, is there a plant goats can't eat? The answer is yes, Black Cherry and excessive amounts of ferns. But what makes goats so great is that even though these plants may be in the area, goats normally won't eat the toxic. And if they do, it takes DAYS of eating pounds and pounds to harm them.

The goats were placed in their location - a municipal area around 1 pm. I was with them at 7:30 pm. All were happy, healthy, and having fun.

We, as a community, cannot control every situation. At some point, we have to trust that the vast majority of society are good people, and that is what I saw. I saw children, moms, and dads, and I was happy to meet our goats. Words of thankfulness and amazement. This is why my daughter and I will keep pushing forward. We love what we do. We give our goats the best goat life they can live, and in return, they help to restore the environment. I can't ask for a better job or way to spend my days.
Just know from this point forward, I will be sleeping with my goats at any public setting.
I will work hard to pay for a truck camper - so that I can sleep with my goats whenever they are in a public place.
Thank you all for your messages and concern.
