Support Stacy's Battle Against Blood Cancer

We are starting this page to support our colleague and friend, Stacy. Stacy has worked for Canyon Creek School District for 5 years, but has also been a part through different titles for many years. Her daughter attended the school kindergarten through eighth grade and they reside in our wonderful district. Stacy has been struggling with some intense pain in different parts of her body since the start of 2024. After going to the doctor, they were able to provide her with some relief.

Unfortunately, last week Stacy fell because her knee went out on her. They decided to go to the ER to check things out, as she couldn't put any pressure on her knee and it started to swell. Upon arrival at the ER, the staff determined to run a CT scan to get a better picture of what was happening. Stacy was diagnosed with blood cancer. The cancer is attacking her bones which caused her knee to blowout. There are lesions on her bones throughout her body. Sometime this week they will do a bone marrow to collect more information and send it to the Mayo Clinic. Also the plan is for her to receive a knee replacement, so she can get back on her feet.

At this time, the Mendoza family is waiting for results and are hopeful for the future. Once Mayo Clinic receives her bone marrow, they will be able to determine what type of blood cancer and treatment options. As you know, this puts a strain on any family. Stacy can not return back to work for the rest of the school year, she has countless hospital and ER visits, and will start treatment as soon as she can.
