Support Staff

Hi all, I am one of the parents whose child attends Claylands nursery. It was announced to parents and staff on Friday 26th evening the intention to close the doors of the nursery next week due to financial concerns with the rejected proposal to continue to allow cross-boarder funding for ECL and its subsequent knock on effects for Claylands.

As all staff are on a zero hour contract they won’t be entitled to redundancy pay. With the present cost of living you can imagine we this will have a huge impact for the staff as they have not been given adequate notice to find alternative employment. As several staff cohabitate, this will certainly lead to significant financial hardship for these households.

Additionally, the gifts for the children at the preschool graduation this Saturday were covered out of pocket by staff.

I was hoping we could raise at least enough to reimburse the staff for their expenses, especially as they now have no income. Anything extra raised will be split between the staff to help tide them over until they secure new employment. Thanks for anything you can contribute.
