Support Staples Tennis Coach Kris Hrisovulos

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are rallying together to support an incredible coach, mentor, and community member who has been unjustly dismissed from his position as Staples Tennis Varsity Coach. Coach Kris, a highly respected tennis coach with more than 14 years of experience at Staples High School, and a 2022 finalist for National High School Tennis Coach of the Year, a 2022 State Coach of the Year, 2019 Town of Westport Sportsman of the Year, winningest coach of tennis program at Staples, 8 State Championships, 5 Conference Championships, is now facing the challenge to fight to retain his job and clear his name from unjust accusations that drove the school to NOT recommend Coach Kris back for the job next Spring season.

Unfortunately, standing up for the truth comes at a high cost. Without legal representation, it appears his right to be heard is a moot point with the administration. Legal and other fees have already begun to add up as Coach Kris fights to clear his name and seek justice. We are asking for your help to raise $15,000 to cover these expenses and ensure that Coach Kris has the resources needed to continue this battle. The legal expenses to defend himself already amount to almost four times the stipend volunteer coaches like Kris get at the school for their priceless contribution to the community.

The school has failed to provide any details - including the results of a thorough investigation, or if one ever took place - and it is therefore unclear what information is public and can be shared at this point. What we do know is the strength of Coach Kris’ character, professionalism, and love for tennis education. Kris is also a Staples alum, and the outpouring of support from players, parents, and residents speaks volumes about his record, his character and contributions to the Westport community.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden and allow Coach Kris to focus on fighting for the truth. If you’re unable to contribute financially, please share this campaign widely to help spread the word.

After all, the battle to clear his name will also grant the community the opportunity to ensure that the actions of the administration are in-tune with the values and character of the town of Westport.
