Support Stella's Heart Health and Future Home

Hello, my name is Marie and I have been fostering this wonderful girl Stella since February.

Upon a recent vet visit, it was discovered that Stella has a heart murmur. The vet recommended Stella have an echocardiogram to help determine the nature of the heart murmur. Heart murmurs can be a birth defect, but can also be a sign of heart disease. The sooner the diagnosis, the better the outcome for the dog. Dogs can live long, happy lives with a heart murmur, but that can become more challenging the longer the delay with treatment.

Additionally, it presents a possible hurdle in finding Stella her forever home. We want her to be in the best home that would give her the treatment, but understand the reality that not knowing the diagnosis may deter potential adopters.

Stella was sponsored under a local rescue LLC for her spaying and rabies but is no longer affiliated with them. Any help is deeply appreciated in trying to get this girl the medical help she needs, and be able to place her sooner. The echocardiogram is quoted at $480 at the Calista Veterinary Hospital in Las Cruces, NM.

A little about Stella; She is a 2-year-old, 65lb bundle of love. She is the biggest couch potato that also specializes in the most charming zoomies and happy feet. I believe she was mostly kept outside at her previous home as flooring (specifically tile floors) are an ongoing challenge for her to navigate and she is making great progress. Initially, she was incredibly uncoordinated. When we began taking her out into the desert to run around there was an 'ah-ha' moment when she realized she could run, jump and roll freely. Stella began being comfortable jumping into cars, onto couches, over logs and onto laps. She does not know how big she is. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and Stella does wonderfully. She is crate-trained and knows commands like, sit, stay, lay down, come, and we are working on a handshake.
