SUPPORT STEPHANIE WITH HER BATTLE WITH LEUKEMIA

Hi, My name is Fallon; I am Stephanie’s Sister and I am hoping to raise money for her and her children during this difficult time.

On May 25, 2023 Stephanie went to the Waterville Hospital after experiencing flu like symptoms for a few days, something about these symptoms just felt a bit different. She was taken into the ER right away due to an elevated heart rate and given an ECG, she was told it was most likely a virus. She then asked if they would do blood work before she left. The Doctor issued the bloodwork and later returned to thank her for requesting he look deeper. The bloodwork came back with a high white blood cell count, the doctor mentioned the word Leukemia and said he would be issuing paperwork for her to go to Saint John for additional tests. She left for Saint John that evening and was admitted when she arrived in the Oncology Unit. On May 26th a Bone Marrow biopsy was done, more blood tests, ECO and Chest x-rays. At 5:30 that evening I received a message telling me that the diagnosis was Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). It’s a type of blood cancer that targets bone marrow. Treatment (Chemo) began today, Monday, May 29th for 4 weeks. It will be intense but the goal is to put the cancer into remission. The first part of the treatment is called “induction of remission”. The second part of the treatment is called “consolidation/intensification therapy” and will last a few months. This can be done in Waterville. The third part of the treatment is called “maintenance therapy” and may last 2 years or more.

Stephanie has 3 children Kallista 19, in her second year of University at UNB, Kade 18, who is in Grade 12 and will be Graduating from Woodstock High School June 22nd, 2023 and Klair 16, who is in Grade 10 at Woodstock High School.
