Support Steven Kissack's Memorial Costs

Haa Tóoch Lichéesh Coalition seeks to support Steven Kissack's memorial and funeral expenses. This GoFundMe campaign will help support Steven's cremation, as well as community memorial services.

As many are aware our community of Juneau recently faced a highly visible act of violence, illuminating interconnected issues of social inequity and police violence. We honor the individual, community, and collective grief being experienced in the wake of the violence that occurred in downtown Juneau Monday, July 15, 2024 where Steven Kissack was shot and killed by local law enforcement. We send tenderness to our entire community as we navigate ongoing unmet needs due to inequality and oppression.

We send our deep care to Steven’s friends at this time of grief, recognizing that many of them witnessed the violence and are navigating the pain of the loss of life to their beloved friend. We also send our deep condolences and care to Steven’s family in Florida as they continue navigating the loss of their beloved brother Steven, we have been in direct contact with them.

Behind a door labeled “Violence Prevention Office,” Haa Tóoch Lichéesh staff were among those who bore direct witness to the fatal act. Our hearts are aching. We are sending healing salves to each other and to all those who are grieving aside us.

In the wake of this horrific event, we recommit ourselves to ongoing pursuit of truth, healing, and justice, and to build a collective future where everyone can thrive. We believe that the violence witnessed, and all forms of violence, are 100% preventable and we long to co-create a world that upholds dignity, love, and deep care.

We understand voices have the desire to be heard, hearts are in need of healing, some people would like to help in this process. We would like to offer a few ways to become involved as we are in direct contact with Steven’s family who are planning to be with the community for a memorial service.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our community for the outpouring of support during this time. Our community is stronger when we come together.
