Stop Deportations is a grassroots abolitionist group taking action to resist border violence.

On 14th June 2022 Stop Deportations took direct action against the Home Office's attempt to forcefully deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. Activists "locked on" to the roads outside the front and back of Colnbrook immigration detention centre (near Heathrow), blocking and delaying the vehicles transporting people from detention to the deportation flight. This gave every person due to be on the flight the time to successfully secure injunctions against deportation.

Home Secretary Priti Patel's first attempt to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is part of an intensification of the British state's mission to make the lives of those who cross borders unbearable. The border and deportation regime is set to further escalate with new legislation designed to punish people on the move, destroy the right to asylum, and crack down on the right to protest against such violence.

Stop Deportations looks to the power of direct action and community organising to resist and dismantle this infrastructure which is built on and sustained by racism. We recognise that black, brown and racialised people are held for longest in immigration detention. We saw that asylum seekers from Iraq, Sudan, Syria and Albania were among the first to be threatened with removal to Rwanda. We understand the inherent links between the policing of migrant communities, their criminalisation and incarceration by the so-called "justice" system, and the way in which these systems of racial oppression work hand-in-hand with immigration enforcement.

As a result of the action on 14th June 9 activists were arrested and are facing criminal charges. Direct action is a powerful tactic but it cannot take place without us massively showing up for each other. The government intends to book further flights to Rwanda, alongside sustaining the existing deportation regime. We must collectively resist every one of these flights. There is immense power in collective action and we refuse to allow the state to divide or intimidate us.

You can support our work and our activists by sharing this crowdfunder. Your donations will go towards:

- Legal costs for the activists arrested at Colnbrook, including paying defence lawyers, mandatory court fees, and fines and CPS costs in case of conviction.

- Financing the costs of future actions and growing the Stop Deportations movement.

SOAS Detainee Support have kindly offered to hold the money for us until we set up our own bank account.
