Southcenter workers have joined their Redmond coworkers on strike. Workers have rent coming up on the first and need funds to be able to stay safe and housed while we continue fighting! We have raised our fundraiser goal to reflect these needs. Please share and keep donating!

On Monday, October 30, workers at the Redmond location of Homegrown sandwiches walked off the job in protest of the company’s firing of union leader Sydney Lankford that morning. We are now on strike until Sydney gets her job back!

 

All funds will go toward helping Homegrown workers cover their bills while on strike.

 

Homegrown workers won union recognition in December of 2022 and have been fighting for a union contract with good wages and benefits ever since. Sydney was a leader of that effort. 

 

Fighting for a union means standing together for what is fair. Just before firing her, Homegrown gave Sydney a write up that criticized her for not following a rule about break times, even though Homegrown had not negotiated that rule with our union. The write up also criticized Sydney for telling a manger, in front of other workers and in a loud voice, that he was a bad manager. We think that we should be able to tell our managers when they are doing a bad job!

 

Us Homegrown workers across the company are OUTRAGED by this firing of our coworker and friend. Redmond workers are on strike until Sydney gets her job back!

 

An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. We cannot let the company get away with firing any of us. Please help make it possible for workers to remain on strike until we win!
