Empower Stroke Survivors on Their Journey to Recovery

Hello everyone! My name is Marvin Ray, and I'm writing to you today with a request for help. On August 23, 2023, my life took an unexpected and life-altering turn when I suffered a thalamic stroke. In an instant, everything I knew was transformed, and I was thrust into a journey that would challenge me in ways I never could have imagined.
The road to recovery has been a profound and humbling experience. Navigating life after a stroke has taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, determination, and the importance of documenting both the triumphs and the challenges. Through this process of introspection, I’ve realized that true progress comes from facing our obstacles head-on, acknowledging them, and learning from them. This journey has become more than just my own recovery—it's now my mission to support others who are walking a similar path.
Many of you know me from my long-standing career in the automotive industry, where I dedicated myself to training and helping others achieve their goals. However, this stroke has given me a new purpose, one that I am deeply passionate about. I am now wholeheartedly committed to supporting and training fellow stroke survivors, their caregivers, and their family members as they navigate their own journeys toward recovery.
In pursuit of this mission, I have written a book titled "Stroke of Courage: Finding Strength in What is Given You." This book is a reflection of my experiences, my struggles, and ultimately, my triumphs. It is more than just a personal memoir; it is a beacon of hope for those facing similar challenges. I am excited to announce that "Stroke of Courage" is scheduled for release on my birthday, October 5, 2024.
But I cannot achieve this goal alone. To bring this project to life and to expand my efforts in supporting the stroke survivor community, I am reaching out for your support. I am looking to generate $5,000 to help me launch several important initiatives that are crucial to this mission:
- Publishing "Stroke of Courage" : Bringing my book to print so that it can reach and inspire as many people as possible.
- Creating the Website: This will serve as a hub for information, resources, and support for stroke survivors, caregivers, and families.
- Establishing the Stroke of Courage 501(c)(3) Organization: A nonprofit dedicated to providing ongoing support, resources, and training for stroke survivors and their loved ones.
- Supporting Fellow Stroke Survivors and Their Caregivers: Offering practical training and emotional support to help them on their journey to recovery.
- Producing an Audiobook: For those with visual impairments, ensuring that "Stroke of Courage" is accessible to everyone who needs it.
- Encouraging Regular Blood Pressure Checks: Promoting the importance of monitoring blood pressure to prevent strokes and other health complications.
To give you a glimpse of what "Stroke of Courage" has to offer, I’ve made the first chapter available online at strokeofcourage . I believe that this book, along with the initiatives I'm working on, will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many people.
I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to my loving wife, Diane. Diane, I wouldn’t have come this far without you. We’re an unstoppable team, and I’m so grateful to have you by my side every step of the way.
Your support—whether through donations, spreading the word, or simply sharing this message—will help me achieve these goals and make a real impact in the lives of stroke survivors and their families. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to making a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering my request for support. Together, we can turn this vision into reality and provide the strength, hope, and courage that so many need.
