Support Student Activists - Protest Is Essential!

Donation protected
Since July, student activists have been faced with serious repression from NSW police for exercising our fundamental right to protest. We have been campaigning against massive cuts to higher education, including a $770 million reduction in annual federal funding and large-scale cuts to courses and teaching staff.

During this time, police have consistently utilised the Covid-19 public health orders to shut down and disperse protests. This is despite most of the economy being reopened, including for extremely non-essential activities, such as the Everest horse racing carnival, for which an exemption has been made for 11,000 punters to assemble.

Students have faced collectively fines of over $50,000, and many have been arrested. Whilst there is an ongoing legal challenge to fines, it is essential that we have a fighting fund to put towards our campaign.

Today, at the National Day of Action against cuts to universities, students were again faced with fines and arrests for exercising our basic democratic rights. Please give generously to this fighting fund to cover the legal costs of student activists facing police.
