Support Sue and Jeff Hannon's liver transplant
Donation protected
In March 2019, SuzAnne Dubois Hannon was diagnosed with a mixed cancer of the liver and bile duct. This cancer is very rare and aggressive, and her treatment options are extremely limited due to her advanced NASH disease (non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver). Over the past few months, the Hannons have traveled to Roswell Park, Memorial Sloan Kettering, the Cleveland Clinic, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) for treatment options. The medical team at UPMC recently presented Sue their final recommendation: a living donor liver transplant, which, if successful, will save her life. UPMC is the national leader in living donor transplants, a procedure not available in Buffalo where the Hannons live. In an operation scheduled for November 1, Sue's son Jeff will donate most of his liver to her. The two of them will need to stay in the Pittsburgh area while they recover from surgery--Jeff for two weeks or so, and Sue for a month or longer. Insurance is not covering their lodging, meals, travel, and other incidental expenses.
