Support Sunny's Life-Saving Surgery

This is for my dog Sunny. She is a 6-and-a-half-year-old pug and beagle mix, also known as a puggle. After a recent visit to the vet, I discovered that she has elevated levels of calcium in her system. Further blood testing was done to validate, and the initial diagnosis was primary hyperparathyroidism. I was sent to a specialist who performed an MRI to validate the diagnosis. They found cancer on the thyroid. A CT scan was done to make sure it had not spread through Sunny’s body. Fortunately, it has not yet spread. They want to remove the cancer and the thyroid gland it is attached to. This surgery and the process that lead me to it is why I am starting this GoFundMe.

Back in 2019, I left my job to look after my then 90-year-old mother full time. This put me on a limited fixed income and now I am not in the position to pay for a surgery that is estimated to be between $6300 and $6800. Especially considering that the initial blood tests were over a grand, the MRIs were over 2 grand, and the CT scans came to 3 grand. All told it will cost over 13 thousand dollars assuming nothing else goes wrong during the operation.

Sunny is an amazingly happy dog. She spends her days cuddling with my now 94-year-old mother. She is friendly with everyone who comes over to visit.
