Please help support our family through this difficult time

It is with true heartbreak I ask for support for my mum in this really difficult time.

Last week my mum ‘Monika’ and her 2 daughters ‘my sisters’ went on a nice family getaway in Spain. A few days before the end of their holiday, one of my sisters ‘Lisa 14 years old’ started feeling unwell. Mum thought it was simply a sun stroke as she presented those type of symptoms. Lisa decided to lay down and get some rest whilst my mum took care of her other daughter. After a few hours Lisa was found on the bathroom floor half conscious with vomit down her unaware of her surroundings and confused. Monika immediately took her to the hospital. The doctors knew as soon as they saw Lisa that it wasn’t a sun stroke…

Right away, the doctors did a full body examination finding nothing wrong with her body initially. But at this point Lisa was unable to form words, unaware of her surroundings and coming in and out of consciousness. The doctors were left with two more examinations where they undertook an MRI scan and spinal fluids to find out there may be an infection on her brain.

Since then she has been transferred to a different hospital in Spain as the doctors have realised it was too severe for them to handle and she was needing higher medical assistance. After MRI and spinal fluid results, they have decided it was best to medically induce her coma whilst she receives treatment and medication.

From her recent brain scans, the doctors have found swelling to Lisa’s brain which has caused some brain damage on the back of her brain. For now the doctors are unable to specify which part of the brain is damaged and how long she is to remain in the coma. my mum has been told that it could be a few week before they decide it is safe to wake her up. Whilst in coma, she has been suffering from epilepsy fits and is unable to breathe properly by herself so she is connected to a breathing machine and a feeding tube.

My mum ‘Monika’ is in absolut shock as Lisa is just a normal, perfectly healthy 14 year old girl. She has since had to send her youngest daughter ‘Emma 6 years old’ back home to England to stay with family whilst my mum remains in hospital by herself looking after Lisa.

We’re trying to raise money to lift a financial weight off of my mums shoulders, as while she remains by my sisters side she is unable to attend work, or get any other type of income. As much as she needs funds in Spain for her accommodation, food etc. She also still has bills to pay back home and try support her other kids. She will eventually need money for flights back home and therapy during Lisa’s recovery. With a kind heart we just want to ask for your help and support. Every little bit would mean so much as my mum is going thought such a traumatic time.
