Support Baby Selah in her fight to thrive

Surrea was recently admitted to the hospital due to high blood pressure in her 22nd week of pregnancy. She was taken to Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga. Issues were discovered with her placenta, among other concerns, and the medical team considered whether to delivery her daughter, Selah, early.

This was not what Surrea and her husband, Elan, had hoped for (to say the least). They have already lost their daughter, Angel, during pregnancy in 2021 because of similar medical problems. An early delivery will have severe risks for Selah.

At the time of this Go Fund Me posting, Surrea’s blood pressure and renal issues are the main concern. She has recently received a blood transfusion, as her renal system issues have resulted in anemia. The goal is to delay delivery of Selah for as long as feasible (ideally until July 9th).

Elan and Surrea are extremely grateful for all the prayers and encouragement they’ve received from loved ones, acquaintances, and even strangers. But things are still extremely difficult. Surrea helps to take care of her mother, and so Elan is having to take over these duties while she is hospitalized. He is also having to travel back and forth from their home in Toccoa, Georgia to Chattanooga multiple times a week. Beyond the obvious medical costs, this has created a major financial burden on the family in terms of gas and food expenses.

Elan and Surrea know the Lord has a plan for them, but this ordeal has been (and still is) extremely challenging for their family. Their eight-year-old daughter, Bella, is fearful for both her mommy and her little sister, Selah. If you know Surrea, you know she is extremely strong and resourceful. She is a loyal friend and will always go out of her way to help someone in need. We are asking for any financial assistance you can provide to help her and her wonderful family during this time.

Surrea is being treated for preeclampsia and her pulmonary disorders. She is responding very out there, but doing well.”
