"THF Great Champion Scholarship" campaign, donate now!
On August 4, 2020, a catastrophic explosion changed Beirut, Lebanon, forever. Hundreds of lives were lost, and thousands more were injured or displaced. Due to the worsening economic situation, most children were not able to afford paying school fees anymore. Now, they were left without homes and facing the threat of a global COVID-19 pandemic.
Sport was a symbol of hope for these children. Taekwondo was not spared from the tragedy, as 10 taekwondo clubs in Beirut were destroyed and hundreds of students were left stranded.
To stand in solidarity with the people of Lebanon, Dr. Chungwon Choue, president of World Taekwondo that governs the Olympic and Paralympic sport of Taekwondo, and chair of the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF), decided to create a fundraising campaign: the "THF Great Champion Scholarship" with the aim to support the children practicing taekwondo.
Your donation will directly cover the children's school fees and allow them to receive proper education in schools. The annual school fee for each child amounts to USD 800, and THF is hoping to support 500 children in the taekwondo community in Beirut through your kindness. In addition, World Taekwondo and its partners has committed to provide financial and equipment support for the children's Taekwondo classes.
We invite you to stand in solidarity with Lebanon. Please donate what you can. Thank you.
