Take Your Time is an upcoming senior thesis film directed by Ryan Bortolotti, a student at Temple University.

The story follows Jay, who, on New Year’s Eve, loses his wallet, leading him to embark on a late-night odyssey to retrieve it—even if it involves confronting a complicated past with his closest friend, Riley.

A message from the director:

How often do we take important items for granted? How do we react when sentimental items are lost forever? Something that has surprised me when telling others about this story is how universal the experience of losing something like a wallet is and the emotions we place onto objects.

I’ve been fortunate enough in the last few years to be able to make shorts I can say I’m proud of and I cannot wait to continue collaborating with my friends on Take Your Time, the most ambitious short I’ve gotten the chance to put my name on. This ability to make this film is a privilege that is not lost on me. I am beyond excited to begin shooting this movie and have it ready to present to as many people as possible.

If by the end of its 15 minutes, someone can laugh, cry, and feel empathy for this very human experience, then we have done our jobs.
