Support Tanner Sue's Fight for Life

This is the story of one of our four legged furbabies, Tanner Sue. She and her 4 brothers and 1 sister were adopted by us from an Amish family. Not long after adopting them they all got very sick. At first we didn't know what was going on but they all got very sick, very fast. We immediately called a vet and took them to be seen but came to find out that they all had parvo. They were quarantined and we fought to save them all, but we lost 2 of the boys (Ranger and Earl). They spent over a week on IVs and being quarantined and then finally got to come home. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Now here we are a year and a half later and Tanner is fighting for her life again. She suddenly became ill and began vomiting every time she ate. We tried for several days to get her to eat chicken and rice or anything bland, but she threw up everytime she ate. So we took her to our local vet who ran blood work and did x-rays and put her on IV fluids for almost a week before sending her home. Once home we tried tirelessly to get her to eat and drink but she still wouldn't. So we took her to another vet for a second opinion. They ran tests and put her on IV fluids and sent her home. All of the tests came back with results just a little low, but nothing that explained what was going on. They decided that maybe she had Atypical Addisons disease and wanted to test her cortisol levels. She we took her back for that test and had to wait several days to get the results back. Today we got those results back and they have determined that she does not have Addisons. So, we are back to square one. We have spent over $2000 so far and still have no idea what is going on. So, we are asking for help. The next step is more testing and a referral to a specialist. We don't know where this is going to lead, all we can hope is that she can recover from this and once again chase her sister and brothers again.

Please help however you can.

UPDATE 3/26: We sat down as a family last night to make some tough decisions. We know time is running out for Tanny, but we decided we aren't ready to give up on her. She is a fighter and we decided that we want to continue to fight for her. We took her back to the vet yesterday morning to put her back on IV fluids for the day and with the intention to bring her home last night with subcutaneous fluids to get her through a few days. We were going to give it until the weekend and see if she responded at all. Once we got to the vet to pick her up the vet came in the room and told us that she was at a loss concerning Tanner. She had put her on an IV all day and gave her a steroid injection and she seemed to be responding. They brought her in and she acted like her old self a little bit. She was wagging her tail and smiling at us!! We all instantly started crying with happiness at this! The vet explained that she is ready to give up, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. She made the decision to keep her overnight on IV fluids and give her another steroid injection this morning....

More to come!

UPDATE 3/29: Thought I would make time to post an update on Tanny. She isn't hardly eating or drinking anything. When we try to offer her anything to eat she kind of gags and turns her head away. We are still getting her anti-nausea medicine and prednisone down her twice a day, but we haven't really seen any improvement from her. She is down to 23 lbs. I fear by Monday we will have to make the decision that we have all been dreading. Please send positive thoughts our way as we continue this struggle.

Any donation helps... if you are more comfortable paying her vet directly here is their information.
