Support Tara Cahill's Breast Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hi my name is Jacinta Cahill, and I am fundraising for my beautiful friend Tara Cahill.
Tara has recently been given the devastating news that she has breast cancer. Within a couple of weeks of getting the information, surgery was scheduled for Tara to have a mastectomy and several lymph nodes were removed where cancer had spread. Tara is currently recovering and healing, and as you can imagine, she is getting her head around the shock of having her world turned upside down.
The next plan is in a couple of weeks; Tara will begin 20 weeks of chemotherapy followed by 3 -5 weeks of radiation treatment.
After treatment, Tara will have more preventative surgeries (such as full mastectomy/ hysterectomy) and reconstruction. Followed by years of hormone treatment.
Tara's cancer journey has only just begun, and those who have known someone touched by this disease know how it can stop your life as you know it and how it massively impacts the whole family.
Since diagnosis, Tara has not been able to return to work and will need continued time off over the next year for treatment and healing.
Her husband is also taking time from work to assist in caring for her and taking her to appointments.
As someone who has lost someone to cancer, I understand the immediate financial stress that happens and continues throughout the process. Although some parts of treatment are covered in the system, many added costs still quickly add up. Medications, scans, appointments, and so many unexpected expenses that Tara and her family are not used to budgeting for. At some points of the treatment, the family's income will take a massive knock, with Tara unable to work, and regular household bills, mortage, petrol, and groceries will become a struggle to pay.
During the treatment, Tara will not be able to help her family with cleaning and meal prepping- another stress that will take its toll on Tara. The fundraising money can help towards getting a cleaner and meal deliveries.
It would also be reassuring to know Tara can take the time she needs to heal without rushing back to work.
At times like this, many people feel helpless and unsure of how to help. This fundraising won't fix the pain Tara and her family are feeling. However, it will help remove some financial stress so they can all concentrate on what's important- supporting each other and assisting Tara in getting back on her feet.
Tara would not ask for help, but those who know Tara, know how much she effortlessly gives her time to those around her.
She is that person who volunteers her time effortlessly to communities. She is that person who drops everything to care for her family and makes the time to put them first. She is that person who has so many friends because she is such a beautiful, fun-loving and caring person.
She always is doing something for someone else.
It's time that Tara and her family need some help.
It would be so appreciated if you could donate to help make this journey for Tara and her family a little easier. Thank you!
