Support Tara Covell's Mare Baroness at UC Davis

Donation protected
This is to help Tara Covell (myself) cover medical expenses for Baroness, my beloved Clydesdale mare while she’s receiving treatment at UC DAVIS. Today is Monday November 25, 2024 and I dropped her off on Thursday November, 21, 2024. Please see our social media posts for the full story, but to summarize: Baroness has been the image of health her entire life, no issues. She’s currently 15 years old and has become very ill in the last several months. Despite seeing several amazing veterinarians, it has been inconclusive what her actual “issue” is and despite countless tests, trial treatments, and time, she has only gotten worse. We are praying that the world renown staff at UC Davis can help our mare. We are a few days in at the moment, and she has made some progress but the exact plan and prognosis is not clear. We speak to her vets daily to get updates. I am starting this because of the overwhelming support from friends and ranch guests who have strongly advised me to open up to the public about the situation. I want to start by saying that more than the goal amount of funds have already been accrued with Baroness, and more than half of the goal amount I have already paid. Treatment will continue with or without this fundraiser (as of current). The total costs are unsure as they change daily depending on her condition. I have humbled myself and am posting this despite being uncomfortable. I am grateful for anyone who feels lead to donate but also feel very strongly that no one should feel obligated or pressured. I want to remind everyone that while my business brings a lot of happiness to people, we are NOT a nonprofit. I raise horses as a business to survive and maintain our beloved ranch! I love them very much and we try our best to keep them healthy and happy!
If you are feeling hesitant at all, please do not donate. It is very unclear if Baroness will survive, but of course the costs are there no matter the outcome. She will continue treatment as long as she’s seeming as if she’s wanting to and progressing, and ….assuming I can afford it beyond what’s justifiable. She’s not only part of our family, but has been an instrumental part of my business and breeding program. She has turned many horse haters into horse lovers. She is so loved and ideally she will be back home in no time, although that is still unclear. If you have questions, I will be posting updates on Facebook and Instagram every few days. I can only respond to so many private messages, but I do greatly appreciate the love, support and prayers. Thank you.
