Help Rebuild Tascosa Drive-In After Wind Damage

We’ve been searching for insurance, but drive-ins are considered high-risk, making coverage hard to find and extremely expensive. One quote only covered liability—so it wouldn’t have helped with wind damage anyway. That’s why we started the GoFundMe.

For decades, Tascosa Drive-In has been a beloved gathering place where families and friends come together under the stars. But now, we’re facing a major setback.

Severe wind damage has left multiple structures at the drive-in in need of major repairs. We had only a partial season last year and have been reinvesting everything into upgrades just to keep the drive-in running. Now, before we could even fully open for the season, we’re hit with another devastating challenge.

What Was Damaged?

This storm caused significant structural damage to several key parts of the drive-in:

✅ Two towers with a 70-foot marquee in between – One tower lost large sections of its sheet metal, while the other is still standing but needs reinforcement. The marquee, which sits between them, was also damaged.

✅ The ticket booth – Located beneath the marquee, it suffered wind damage and needs repairs.

✅ The movie screen (separate from the towers & marquee area) – several large sections of the screen were torn off and will need to be replaced and repainted.

Screen & Equipment Repairs:

• Replacement screen panels: $1,200 - $2,000

• Boom truck rental (1 week+): $3,000 - $6,000

• Repainting the screen: $1,000 - $2,000

Tower, Marquee & Ticket Booth Repairs:

• Replacing damaged sheet metal on one tower: $5,000 - $15,000

• OR upgrading the damaged tower to stucco for long-term durability: $10,000 - $25,000

• Structural reinforcement & labor for towers and marquee: $5,000 - $15,000

• Marquee & ticket booth repairs: TBD based on damage assessment

Other Expenses:

• Unexpected costs & contingency fund: $5,000 - $10,000

• Basic Repairs (Rebuild as Is): $20,000 - $40,000
