Our beloved McAvoy Family needs our help right now. As some of you know, my nephew, Fred had a stroke on Saturday, October 24th. He was airlifted to St Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw where they have a new state of the art Neuro Department. Fred’s stroke has taken away the function on his right side and has also affected his speech. Fred has made GREAT strides and is now at Hurley Hospital for inpatient rehabilitation.
Fred and his beautiful wife Jennifer, have been long time residents of Grand Blanc. Along with their 4 children, Landen – 15, Madison – 12, Cameron – 10 and little Elise age 6, you can see them regularly either on a soccer field, baseball field or a basketball court. Fred or Coach McAvoy as he’s frequently referred to, has been a coach and mentor over the last 10+ years to hundreds of kids for baseball, little league and basketball.
Fred and Jen are devoted and active in their church, Holy Family Catholic Church, in Grand Blanc. They have helped with fundraisers for the church and all 4 of their children have been baptized and attend Holy Family church & school. Landon and Maddy both altar serve and all of them, with the exception of Elise who’s a little to young yet, have taken First Communion at Holy Family.
Up until March, Fred always worked as a Marketing Account Manager in the beverage industry. COVID arrived and Fred found himself unemployed. Fred is known for giving away thousands of $$$ worth of items that have been donated to various clubs and organizations to be raffled off or used as prizes. He is a giving, loving, caring & faithful man, who rarely says NO when asked for anything.
There are no words for this immeasurable incident. We are praying and asking for hope and help. We want to take all or any financial burden out of the picture, so Fred & Jen can focus on Fred’s recovery…he has an extremely long road ahead of him with Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. Special equipment needs to be purchased and in place when Fred comes home.
Fred and Jen are so thankful and touched by everyone who has given their time and special love and attention to the kids as well as monetary donations. It is greatly appreciated and they feel very blessed to have so many amazing people in their circle. Please do not feel like you need to contribute on top of what you have already given.
So, with that said, Fred, Jen and his family need our help. With Fred not working, they were forced to purchase insurance with an extremely high deductible that certainly does not cover everything. Fred’s bill for the airlift alone was $42,000…NOT covered! Whatever you can give to support this family will be greatly appreciated. Every dollar will go to supply to their needs medically and at home. Please join us as we continue to pray and ask God to supply every single one of their needs right now. This has been a difficult year for so many...Let’s come together and inspire hope and healing thru giving.
