Support Teddy's Eye Surgery and Keep Him Home

Hi, I'm Mallorie. We're located in Guthrie Center. I'm 6 months pregnant (unexpected pregnancy) and am currently preparing for my first born child. We adopted a SharPei Puppy from Oskaloosa ia in February 2024. Long story short, we were told he was a healthy puppy and visibly he was and has been until the past month. It started out as him blinking non stop and squinting which we thought was a sharpei thing, he then progressively started batting at his eyes and trying to scratch them every time he'd wake up in the morning or wake up from a nap. We are now at a point where his eyes don't open period. He paws at them and tries scratching them. We try wiping them or cleaning them but nothing. Not to mention the smell from his constant tears from trying to open his eyes. We have gotten quotes from 3 nearby vet offices which have given us a $4-$500 price range. We unfortunately made the tough decision it would be best to rehome in which when posted, we have gotten multiple resources, help, and offers for donations. We were recommended to the veterinary clinic in Belmond IA which is called "Family Veterinary Practice" which is far from us, 2 hours and 11 minutes we decided to call anyways desperate. We called right before closing and got our most affordable quote of $125 for both eyes, $24 for anesthesia, and $18 for the hospital stay while they watch him. They quoted us at around $167 total and then we rounded up to $200 to help us with gas to get there and back in our Nissan Altima. It all seems too good to be true but we are desperate and would love to keep Teddy. We are calling tomorrow to schedule the appointment and are hopeful we will get donations to be able to cover his surgery so we can keep him in our family.
