Support Teenager Louis Pilcher's Recovery
Donation protected
On the 21st May 2019 Louis Pilcher, aged just 19, went out on his motorcycle during his lunch hour from the Charity where he worked in Aylesford. However, on his return journey he was involved in a serious accident on the Bluebell Hill Slip Road near Maidstone, Kent. Louis was found crumpled at the side of the road by a transport ambulance paramedic, who fortunately assisted him until the Air Ambulance arrived and transported him to King’s College Hospital in London. Suffering from a punctured lung, broken spine and also a stroke, Louis spent two months there in the Intensive Care Unit. As you can imagine, the shock has placed a huge mental strain on Louis’s devoted Dad. Travelling from Maidstone to London every day and also taking time off work, has also caused a great financial struggle for him.
Unfortunately, due to the seriousness of Louis’s accident he has lost all sense of feeling from his waist down and is unable to walk. Louis has now made some progress and been offered a place in Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire, which is acclaimed internationally for its treatment of spinal injuries. There Louis will be helped to gain strength throughout his body.
Louis’s home is with his Dad in a second floor flat, which does not have the floor space for him to move around easily in a wheelchair. He will need to have his home adapted with special equipment to give him some independence and enable him to live as normal a life as possible.
We hope that by creating this GoFundMe Page we can raise money to assist Louis’s Dad with his forthcoming regular significant travel costs from Kent to Buckinghamshire, and also to help buy equipment to adapt their home for when Louis can finally return there.
Louis is a loving and caring person and this has shattered his life. The shock has deeply affected his family, friends and work colleagues. Any donation will be hugely appreciated and your loving support will greatly motivate and assist Louis in his long-term recovery.
