Support Terry's Battle Against Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Hello, my son's name is Terry. He is 34 years old and has one son, Jorian, aged 12. My son is one of the most wonderful and kind young men you will ever meet. Terry is loved by so many outside of our family. He is the only son out of 6 children. His smile lights up not just any room, but people’s hearts. His humor and personality define how wonderful a person he is. My son has always been very fit and athletic. Basketball has always been a loved sport to him.
On July 29, 2024, I took my son to the doctor. He had some hearing loss and his stomach had swollen to an extreme measure. The doctor examined him and they did bloodwork. Unexpectedly, on July 30, 2024, I received a call from his doctor. The words put me in a panic and complete tears. Terry’s red blood count was so extremely low, they were admitting him into the hospital for a transfusion. His white cell count was 440,000. The doctor explained that usually means cancer. My son was admitted into the hospital a few hours later. Tests revealed that my only son has Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. This is a cancer of the blood that multiplies and attacks the red blood cells. The cancer doctor explains that CML attacks the body quietly over time. Terry had been living with this for years without knowing and this disease has been doing its damage silently. My baby has to undergo chemotherapy (pill) and several continuous doctors visits. He has become very fatigued and is suffering some depression. This isn’t like my child at all. The worst part of this experience is his hearing loss and very bad imbalance of his equilibrium. It makes it impossible for him to walk more than a few steps without needing help. The constant buzzing and pounding in his ears and head is very overwhelming to him. The doctors are not sure what has caused this, but their main focus is the cancer right now. So besides all the treatments (possibly stem cell transplant) my son has visits to hearing specialists ahead.
We are totally putting our faith in God for healing. God put the doctors here with knowledge to help us all remain healthy along the way. Truth is, even with insurance, certain cases medicines, treatments, and surgeries aren’t one hundred percent covered. The sad part is, my son's insurance will end. His coverage is through his job and he can no longer work. Honestly, I am a very proud and independent person. For me to start this gofundme really hurts my pride, but I would do anything to get financial help for my child’s medical needs. So if you can help by donating anything that God lays on your heart to give, it would be greatly appreciated. We have a long journey to healing and with any assistance and help you can give, I know we will have a good chance at accomplishing it.
My family wants to thank each and every one of you in advance. Please say a special prayer for my baby. He has a son that he adores and needs his father here. We need him here!
