Good Commoners, current & future - As you know, this July we had catastrophic flash floods in Vermont. We are lucky that Good Commons has Good Bones, and was spared above ground damage. Unfortunately, below the ground, water nearly reached the first floor joists, damaging all mechanical systems, including: the water heater, pressure tank, water filtration system, fire alarm panel, sprinkler tanks/pumps, etc.

Currently, our doors are open with temporary “band-aid” fixes in place, and we are beyond thankful to our amazing Good Commons family for their generous contributions thus far.

Looking Ahead:

We are committed to the resilience of Good Commons far into the future - as a place of community & friendship, a home away from home, a warm hearth, and a reminder that the most nourishing and meaningful experiences are enriched in shared spaces. We will continue to invest in our cozy little corner of Vermont, ensuring its future as a near net-zero (net 10%), historically rich, community-centered presence in Plymouth.

Initial estimates for restoration were significantly under the actual cost as the full scope of work. We will be building a separate structure to house all new mechanicals, with a reinforced concrete foundation to protect against mudslides. The electrical connection will be redone, which will necessitate resurfacing the parking lot, and portions of the foundation will be rebuilt.

Tesha is the heart and soul of the operation, infusing it with peace and warmth and her loving joyful energy. She is truly a powerhouse as a business owner and community advocate and is always the first to step up and help others. In this incredibly difficult time, let's rally around her and show our support as she rebuilds the Good Commons we know and love!
