The One State Foundation, launched in March 2018, aims to increase and broaden debate among Palestinians, Israelis and the international community on an egalitarian one state solution in Israel/Palestine. Established by a Palestinian, Israeli and Dutch national and supported by an advisory board consisting primarily of Palestinians and Israelis supporting the one state vision, The Foundation is fully registered in the Netherlands as a Public Benefit Organization which is comparable to US 501(c)(3) status.
Our initial focus has been on raising awareness through online engagement, achieved through volunteer activism. Since this year 2019 we are looking for support from non-governmental investors to fund our core organisational costs and strategic programmes, events and outreach so that we can continue spreading our belief in equality and human rights.
For the past 25 years the mainstream consensus has been that a two-state solution is the only viable option to end the Palestinian suffering, despite the fact that over that same period the one state reality has only been further consolidated with Israel increasing settlements on the West Bank and tightening its siege over the Gaza Strip. Although support for a one-state solution has increased amongst both Israelis and Palestinians, the formal position expressed by all international policy makers and institutions, without exception, is still predicated on a two-state solution.
Given the current stasis, it is timely and necessary to invest in broadening the debate and support for the only real, viable and just solution; one state based on full equality of all living under the control of the same state and recognition and repair of past and present injustices. The One State Foundation aims to broaden the discussion on the concept of the creation of one state, so that it becomes a genuine part of the mainstream debate. We have a particular interest in mobilising interest and action among young people, and in engaging those who are at present focussed on a moribund two-state solution, to join us in the struggle for equality and freedom for all.
This campaign is aiming to raise (part of) the funds to pay for one year’s salary of two part time founding directors - Palestinian and Israeli - and initial set up costs. Together, these directors can begin to build key alliances, carry out baseline research and lead public and private dialogues and outreach to take the organisation forward, for an inclusive, united future.
