Support the Ackerman Family Medical and Funeral

As many of you know, on July 31st while returning from a vacation visiting their daughter Dahlin and Utahna experienced a tragic auto accident. Dahlin passed away due to his injuries at the scene and Utahna was life-flighted to the University of Utah. Their dogs Doc and Wyatt also passed in the accident.

Utahna was cut from the vehicle sustaining a traumatic brain injury, 11 broken ribs, a fractured sternum, a shattered and dislocated elbow, a broken arm and nerve damage to her right hand. When she arrived at the hospital she received 4 units of blood due to blood loss in the accident. Within 2 days of being at the University of Utah Hospital, she was stable enough to be moved out of the Surgical ICU and received surgery on her right arm and hand. The doctors are hopeful the nerves in her hand will heal however a future surgery on her hand is inevitable due to the right hand being unable to grasp and extend. Utahna will be at an inpatient rehab for 60-90 days depending on her progress before she can go home.

We are raising funds for my father Dahlin Ackerman's funeral expenses, memorial services and Utahna Ackerman's medical bills and any other unforeseen expenses. Our family was not prepared for the loss of my father, nor the current situation my mother is in as a result of the accident. My parents did not have any savings or life insurance leaving my mother in a financial bind.
