The day the Lord blessed the Almond Family with the arrival of their second child. A beautiful baby girl, Averie Rose.

The overwhelming joy and happiness of finally meeting your child is a moment in time all parents remember for eternity. The day your heart actually grows in its capacity to love, the day your life seems more complete, the day that so many of us dream of over and over again, and the day you experience the miracle of the greatest gift from God. In that moment you have a new understanding of just how precious the gift of life is… and for the Almonds, just how fragile.

The Almond Family is enduring the unimaginable. Their precious baby girl has been diagnosed with SMA Type 0 (skeletal muscular atrophy). SMA Type 0 is the most severe form of spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disorder that affects motor neurons in the spinal cord. SMA type 0 is very rare and causes profound weakness impacting the ability to move, eat, and even breathe. There is no cure for SMA Type 0 and life expectancy is greatly reduced.

The Almonds are now focusing on cherishing every single precious moment with their sweet Averie Rose. Averie will not leave the hospital, so obviously her parents will be spending all of their time there with her. This is not a time for them to worry about the burden of finances, bills, or what the future may hold. I ask that you consider donating to this faithful family in their time of need. They are truly the sweetest family and would give their last penny to help others. My hope is for us to show them support by reducing the burden of financial concerns so they can focus on what is truly important for the next few months, their precious family.
