Hello!
My name is Nadia Armstrong, I am a recent college graduate who was diagnosed with POTS in 2015, a type of dysautonomia. Dysautonomia is a chronic medical illness that affects the autonomic nervous system, often causing fainting spells, dizziness, irregular heart-rate, tremors/convulsions, and a variety of other symptoms. There are several types of dysautonomia, the most severe types and cases even being fatal.
I was diagnosed with dysautonomia very unexpectedly, and it flipped my world and my family's world upside down. It is a disease that is becoming more well-known, but is still not widely understood.
As a celebration over all that I have overcome, as well as a testament to the strength of those also diagnosed with dysautonomia, my family and I have decided to start a scholarship fundraiser to support college students with dysautonomia! Our goal is to raise around $2,000 to award 2 $1,000 scholarships to incoming or current college students. You can learn more about me, my family, and the scholarship at our website linked here: thearmstrongscholarship
