Support the Arts in Ignacio CO

My name is Kasey Correia, and I am the Executive Director and a founding member of an amazing art center located in the heart of Ignacio, fondly known as Dancing Spirit.

Over the years, the support and generosity of community members like you have enabled us to provide arts education for all ages, healing through the arts for our most vulnerable populations, creating a vibrant, inclusive space for artistic expression. Through our classes, workshops, events or as part of our artist co-op, our community inspires us to continue to touch lives through creativity.

From our humble beginning in 2010 as an artist co-op, through a journey involving several locations and transitions, Dancing Spirit continues to pursue the dream of bringing Ignacio its very own Center for the Arts, and we are so close! We have purchased property at 465 Goddard Ave (Ignacio’s main street) and have begun the process of constructing a 4,000 square foot building that will house a co-op gallery, classroom space and an area for performing arts. Dancing Spirit Center for the Arts will be so much more than just another art center though, it will be a home for creativity and inclusion, where anyone can express themselves through the arts and find support and a sense of belonging.

I’m sure you recognize that a project of this magnitude requires significant resources and investment. While we’ve already raised $1.1 million dollars, we are continuing to reach out to individuals and organizations that share our passion for the arts and believe in its transformative power to raise the remaining $390k that we need to make this dream a fully functioning reality. Our final needs include paint, flooring, AC, new kilns, classroom and office equipment and furniture, and gallery display components such as lighting and a hanging system.
